New enrolment places have now opened

On Monday 13 October 2025, Executive Principal Andrew Linke, announced some exciting new enrolment opportunities. Read his letter to parents here.

Timeline of new enrolment opportunities

👉From 2026 onwards, additional places will be available for 3-year-olds to join our Early Learning Centre at Brooklyn Park. This expansion supports the growing number of Foundation places from 2027.

👉From 2027 onwards, both Brooklyn Park and South Plympton campuses will commence with three Foundation classes, each with around 19 students (up from two classes). This represents 14 additional new Foundation places available at each campus, every year.

👉In 2028 at the South Plympton Campus Junior School only, 14 additional places will be on offer for new students only (not available for campus transfers) in each year level from Year 2 through to and including Year 6.

South Plympton Junior School will complete its growth through to Year 6 for the start of 2028.
Brooklyn Park Junior School will grow progressively each successive year, as further building developments will be undertaken to facilitate this transition.

Future Secondary Enrolments

From 2029, the additional South Plympton Junior School students will move into our four-stream Secondary School with guaranteed Year 7 entry.

  • This will result in fewer Year 7 places for students from other primary schools.
  • A similar reduction will occur when Brooklyn Park’s expanded Year 6 cohort transitions to South Plympton Secondary School with guaranteed Year 7 entry.
  • Year 7 entry at South Plympton in 2026, 2027, and 2028 will not be affected by these changes.

FAQs

Early Learning Centre

Why aren’t there additional places for Preschoolers (4-year-olds) at the ELC from 2026?

To enable the enrolment of more preschoolers, refurbishment of the existing classroom facility will need to take place first. This is planned to occur during 2026, ready for 2027.

With the larger class sizes, how will my child’s education be affected?

Our high-quality education will be maintained by keeping our high educator-to-child ratio. Simply put, more children are cared for by more staff, maintaining the outstanding quality Emmaus is known for.

Will the ELC facilities be increased to accommodate the increased number of children?

Yes, plans are in place to undertake modifications to the existing facilities in 2026 to accommodate these changes.

Brooklyn Park Junior School

What is the likelihood of my enrolment being accepted if I’m not currently enrolled in the ELC?

This will be unchanged from the current arrangement. Foundation places will remain available. The majority of our Foundation students, however, do transition from our ELC, making it seamless for the children.

Where will the additional Foundation classroom be located (and other rooms into the future)?

Several options for future capital works at Brooklyn Park are currently being explored with the College architect and builder. There are some great options already identified, and the outcome will be shared in the near future once confirmed.

Will you be offering ‘single year levels’ at Brooklyn Park Junior School from 2028?

Regardless of whether your child is in a ‘composite’ or ‘single year level’ class, our highly trained and experienced teachers will accommodate all children and their individual needs, enabling them to thrive. It is, however, likely there may be more ‘single year level’ classes than has previously been the case at Emmaus in the season ahead.

Now that there are more places available in the South Plympton Junior School (in 2028), can I transfer from Brooklyn Park because I live closer to that campus?

These ‘one-off’ new places at South Plympton in 2028 are only available for new enrolments, not campus transfers. All campus transfers are guided by the College Enrolment Policy conditions.

How will this change affect class sizes?

The number of students in each Foundation class will actually decrease from about 22 to about 19. It is not expected that any class size in the College will increase.

I have been on the waiting list for many years. Will my application be prioritised now that there are additional new places available?

The availability of these additional places will be managed in the same way as the College has always managed waiting pools, which is a fair and equitable process that considers application lodgement date.

How will you fit these extra students in?

During the current season of new specialist facilities being built/refurbished at South Plympton, approximately 15 additional classrooms have or will be built as part of this overall project. The construction of the new underground carpark also relocates all the cars previously parked on the school grounds. This former carpark area will be turned into an additional new outdoor student recreation space.

Secondary School

Are there any spots available in Year 7 for children who are not attending Emmaus in Year 6?

Yes, there is no change to Year 7 entry for 2026, 2027 or 2028. From 2029, however, the number of Year 7 places available to non-Emmaus Year 6 students will decrease. The only guarantee of a Year 7 place at Emmaus will be for students attending an Emmaus Christian College Junior School.

I have more than one child enrolled in Year 7 for future years. Will my additional child/children be guaranteed a place?

Priority for entry to Emmaus Year 7 will first be given to students already attending Emmaus Brooklyn Park and South Plympton Junior Schools (who are all guaranteed Year 7 entry). From 2029, additional Year 7 places will become limited. These limited places will be managed according to the usual College enrolment processes; hence, no guarantee of enrolment can be given to students who are not attending an Emmaus Junior School.

If I have a child at the Junior School at Brooklyn Park or South Plympton, will they be guaranteed a place in Year 7 at South Plympton?

Yes, all students attending either Emmaus campus are guaranteed entry into Year 7.

Will my child get preference for Year 7 entry if they attend Pilgrim School?

The only guarantee of Year 7 entry at Emmaus will be for students already attending the Emmaus Brooklyn Park or South Plympton Junior Schools. From 2029, additional Year 7 places will become very limited and subject to the existing College enrolment practices.

General Junior School Enrolments

Will there be an option to move from our current primary school to Emmaus earlier than we initially planned?

Yes. Additional 2027 Foundation places have already been made available at both South Plympton and Brooklyn Park. It is also strongly recommended to take up the ‘one-off’ 2028 opportunity for new students to join the South Plympton Junior School in Years 2 to 6. Doing so will also guarantee Year 7 entry at South Plympton.

Can I choose which year to move my child from their current primary school to Emmaus earlier?

The additional places in the South Plympton Junior School (Years 2 to 6) will be available for the commencement of the 2028 School year. This is a ’one-off’ intake of approximately 14 new students in each year level. Once these places have been filled, there would be little likelihood of moving across after 2028 (other than the usual vacancies that arise from routine family departures).

If we decide not to move to Emmaus early in 2028, to take up one of these additional new South Plympton Junior School places in Years 2 to 6, will my place in the waiting pool be preserved?

In general, yes; however, it is important to understand that the intent of the College is to fill all of these 14 new places for 2028 in Years 2 to 6, firstly from the existing waiting pool and then from new applicants. If those already in the waiting pool decline this opportunity, these available 2028 places will be filled by following the usual College enrolment procedures, including from new applicants.

If I miss out on securing one of the new 2028 Years 2 to 6 places at South Plympton, can I be considered for a place at Brooklyn Park?

In principle, yes; however, it will depend on what year level you are seeking at Brooklyn Park and the availability of places. The College Enrolment Officers will be able to give you a specific answer depending on your circumstances.
