At Emmaus Christian College, students from ELC to Year 12 can enjoy a variety of sporting opportunities throughout the year.
Through involvement in sports activities, students have the opportunity to:
- live an active lifestyle
- build friendships
- develop leadership and team work skills
- develop resilience skills
- compete in a structured and supportive sporting environment
- learn new and relevant skills
- implement strategies and tactics in competitive contexts
- experience success as an individual or as part of a team.
Participating in an organised College sport or recreation team allows students to develop a deeper sense of belonging, strengthen friendships and feel a part of the College community.
Our annual Athletic Sports Days and Swimming Carnivals are held for students in ELC to Year 2, Year 3 to 6 and Year 7 to 12. These are large events in our College calendar where our three House teams Topaz, Ruby and Emerald respectfully compete for the House Championship.
Inter-School Sports Competitions
Our College competes in School Sport SA events throughout the year, where Primary and Secondary students can compete in sports against other government and non-government schools in South Australia. We promote opportunities for talented students to trial for local district, state and national-level honours.
We are also strong competitors in the South Australian Christian Schools Association (SACSA) sporting competitions and have a proud history of commendable results in AFL Football, Athletics, Basketball, Cross Country, Netball, Table Tennis, Soccer, Swimming and Volleyball.
After School Sport
Staff members coach, manage and supervise sporting teams. They may also coordinate the input of parents, friends or old scholars who volunteer to assist.
After-school sport competitions include:
- Emmaus Fundamentals Basketball Program
- SA Church Basketball Association (SACBA)
- Districts Basketball SA
- Southern Districts Junior Soccer Association
- South Australian United Church Netball Association Inc.
- Woolworths NetSetGo
