Our Reynella Early Learning Centre will be based on the same philosophy and offering as our existing Brooklyn Park Centre. Watch the Brooklyn Park Early Learning Centre video here..

Reynella ELC Facilities

This renovated and contemporary centre is located adjacent to Equippers Church 255 Old South Road, Old Reynella.

The Centre has been thoughtfully designed to nurture the curiosity and development of little learners. Purpose-built learning spaces cater specifically to the unique needs of both three- and four-year-olds, with spacious classrooms inspired by Reggio Emilia principles that invite exploration, creativity, and discovery. Children will enjoy rich outdoor experiences through natural play spaces and a dedicated hands-on little learners' garden.

We are looking forward to fostering community connection both within the local Christian Churches, Weekly Playgroup and with our existing F-12 South Plympton Campus.

More about Emmaus Christian College

We present the Early Years Learning Framework through a Christian worldview, where every child is recognised as a unique creation of God. Learning is enriched through play-based learning, Reggio Emilia principles and nature play, supporting children to grow in confidence, curiosity and wonder.

A balanced learning environment

Our Early Learning Centre has been intentionally designed to offer a rich variety of engaging, joyful and stimulating learning spaces that nurture curiosity and creativity. Children are encouraged to explore and delight in the natural environment God created, fostering a sense of awe, care and responsibility for His world.

The ELC environment is thoughtfully balanced between indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as fixed and movable materials, allowing children the freedom to explore, imagine and create. These play-based learning experiences support healthy risk-taking, problem-solving and resilience in a safe and nurturing setting.

Children are given the flexibility to navigate and engage with materials that spark curiosity, promote wellbeing and inspire wonder — providing meaningful pathways into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) inquiry from an early age.

Reggio Emilia inspired learning

Our learning approach is inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, where the environment is thoughtfully designed as a “third educator”, intentionally inviting curiosity, creativity and discovery each day. Children are encouraged to express their learning in many ways — through art, movement, language, construction and play — honouring their individual strengths and interests.

We value each child’s prior knowledge and life experiences, nurturing meaningful relationships with God and one another as we build a strong, caring community. Children are supported to ask questions, explore ideas and engage in inquiry, while developing emotional intelligence, respect and responsibility within a loving classroom culture. Learning journeys are carefully documented, celebrating each child’s growth, thinking and understanding.

Preschool Program for children aged three and four

Our long day care includes both a three-year-old and four-year-old preschool (or kindergarten) program that meets all the requirements of children transitioning into school. Preschool children are required to attend the Centre at least two days each week. Qualified teachers will oversee the planning and implementation of the programs.

The South Australian Government has entitled all children to attend preschool for up to 15 hours a week (equivalent to two days per week) over 40 weeks of one calendar year. These 40 weeks are scheduled to coincide with the school term dates.

Our standard four-year-old preschool program operates daily from approximately 8:30am to 3pm. However, all children are able to enrol in additional hours through the long-day care service, which operates Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 6pm.

Children may begin in the long day care program prior to the preschool program, and also remain in the long day care program at the conclusion of the preschool program.

Find out more about preschool at SA Government's website.

One College, Three Campuses

Established in 1979, Emmaus Christian College currently operates across two campuses, South Plympton (Foundation to Year 12) and Brooklyn Park (ELC to Year 6). All campuses are governed and operated by the existing Board and Executive Leadership team to ensure a consistent, authentically Christian and non-denominational approach to education. Both the Reynella ELC and Brooklyn Park ELC will be overseen by the same Director, Mrs Lauren Hughes who has over 25 years in the Early Learning Education industry.

Vision, Mission and Purpose

Our Vision: Inspiring Hearts, Inspiring Minds.

Our Mission: To inspire young people by providing excellence in education within a caring Christian community.

Our Purpose:
We want students to know that they are loved by God, to know that they are not a chance creation, but a unique individual deliberately created; that God’s love towards each of us was demonstrated in Jesus. From an understanding of this, we want our students to know their worth, and become mature Christian adults.

We see the pursuit of excellence as important. Each student will learn to know and develop the unique set of abilities God has given him or her so that as mature Christian adults they will have a positive, Godly influence on their world.

Our Philosophy:
Christian schooling is an extension of the education which Christian parents provide for their children in the home. While recognising that the home has the primary responsibility for the education of children, we see that the influence of Christian teachers, peers and curricula is significant in helping children develop as committed Christians and responsible, effective members of society.

We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God and is the standard by which all ideologies, philosophies and theologies are to be evaluated. Therefore, education should be Christ-centred, in accord with Biblical truths and principles, academically sound, and effective in helping individuals to serve God and others.
