Looking back is often a great way to see how far one has come. Collectively 9E represents 96 years associated with Emmaus Christian College. Many of the girls started in Foundation, or what used to be known as Reception, and some joined along the way. I asked my class what were some life lessons they had learned that have impacted and shaped them into the young woman they are today. For me, it has been the friendships formed with staff and seeing young people realise how capable they are. The girls from 9E said:
…being mentally prepared and ready to adapt to anything…gained confidence in talking to people…that your best is enough…there is always light at the end of the tunnel…I’ve met new friends…don’t judge books by their covers…don’t compare yourself to others…you don’t have to change who you are for others…face your problems in a mature way and don’t hide yourself from the truth…school teaches us that rules are there to help guide us…that Jesus loves us…I have learned that I am so much more than test scores…there is always support, you just need to ask…learning about how we are part of community, and what we can do to support…if life gives you lemons, make lemonade…we have been planned and purposed…Emmaus has taught me to never lose my sense of humour.
