Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia Visits Emmaus Christian College

  • From the Principal - Secondary School, South Plympton

On Thursday, 3 April, Her Excellency the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia, visited our South Plympton Campus and met with Secondary School leaders.

The Governor’s visit was part of her ongoing initiative to engage with as many Secondary students as possible during her term. She aims to foster discussions around Civics, Citizenship, and Leadership, while also gaining insight into the issues that young South Australians believe are most important.

Her Excellency was warmly welcomed by our College Captains, Year 8, 10, and 12 Student Leaders, as well as our ECCO Leaders. During the visit, she shared insights into her role as Governor and its significance within the State Government.

Students posed thoughtful questions covering topics such as faith in leadership, the distinction between the Governor’s role and that of The Crown, her patronage of community organisations, and, more lightheartedly, which football team she supports.

We also had the opportunity to showcase the new building’s southern-facing screens, which feature a commissioned artwork by an Indigenous artist. We explained that the artwork represents the College’s connection with Ernabella on the APY Lands, a partnership that is deeply valued by our community.

We are sincerely grateful for the Governor’s visit and know that our student leaders appreciated the opportunity to engage with her in meaningful conversation.
