Emmaus Christian College's Vocational Education Training (VET) Program offers senior students the opportunity to enhance their future career options by studying a nationally recognised qualification whilst completing their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE).
A VET course is a nationally accredited certification that provides students with industry based training and specific employment skills. The qualifications range from a Certificate I to Certificate III and attract SACE points (200 points are required for SACE completion). Some Certificate III level courses can contribute towards an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) that is required for entry into university.
Students are equipped with employability skills, industry recognised training and qualifications to enhance their career, potentially setting them up to apply for entry-level positions in their chosen career field. For example, a student looking to study nursing at university could study a Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing) and on completion, be qualified to be employed as an aged care worker, complementing their university studies.
There are many VET courses available and include industries such as:
- Agriculture and Horticulture
- Allied Health - Child Care, Aged Care and Disability Care
- Animal Studies
- Business Services
- Christian Ministry (Veta Morphus)
- Conservation and Land Management
- Fashion and Design
- Hairdressing and Beauty
- Information Technology and Digital Media
- Sport, Fitness and Recreation
