The first day of Term 4 saw our inaugural Emmaus Tradie Lunch launched. Selected Year 11 and 12 students were recognised as upcoming 'Tradies' and invited to a lunch. These students have studied or are studying Certificate II in their chosen trade, including Electrotechnology, Construction, Engineering Fabrication and Plumbing. At the conclusion of this study students are 'Apprenticeship ready'.
At the Tradie Lunch, students enjoyed a South Australian Tradie icon; the Farmers Union Iced Coffee, and heard how they can best prepare to secure an apprenticeship in their trade. They met representatives from an apprenticeship network who are keen to receive resumes from our students for potential apprenticeship opportunities as they move into Year 12 and beyond.
Special congratulations to Year 12 student Marcus, who started his full-time Carpentry Apprenticeship with Reardon Constructions this week. Marcus has completed his first year trade school requirements with ATEC, while completing SACE this year. He has received feedback that he "is a solid worker, methodical, knows his tools and takes pride in setting up and helping where he can". Marcus will be an asset to his employer! We thank God for His provision and look forward to seeing Marcus as a qualified Carpenter in the future.
