Assumed knowledge: Year 8 and 9 Indonesian

Course Summary

Students will continue their study of the Indonesian language through a wide variety of written, oral and aural activities. They will also extend their understanding and knowledge of Indonesian culture, arts, geography and history through assignments and films.

This course is a prerequisite for Stage 1 Indonesian.

Course content

Unit 1: Traditional Festivals

  • Exchange ideas and opinions about Indonesian festivals
  • Compare Indonesian traditions to Australia
  • Select activities from Saling- Silang 2 activity books

Unit 2: Indonesian Sports and games

  • Exchange ideas for games and activities for Middle School - Senior School Indonesian Day
  • Reflect on intercultural encounters: Pencak Silat Workshop
  • Apply knowledge of textual features to comprehend and create public texts

Unit 3: Film Study

  • Written response to film as text
  • Identify, make connections of formal and informal language in film

Unit 4: Quirky comics

  • Identify, make connections of formal and informal language in comics
  • Apply knowledge of textual features to comprehend and create public texts
