The Emmaus Christian College Trade Training Centre (TTC) provides senior secondary students with the opportunity to develop their career pathway in electrical and engineering industry that contributes to their SACE. The Certificate II Electrotechnology (Career Start) provides students with the opportunity to strengthen their employability skills, whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification and laying the foundation for further education or employment.

Our nationally recognised training, assessment and accreditation is provided by PEER who is a Registered Training Organisation. All courses provide dual accreditation through the Australian Qualification Framework National Training Practices and VET in SACE arrangements.

The Certificate II Electrotechnology (Career Start) enhances a career pathway for students who are equipped with employability skills and qualifications to apply for apprenticeships in the electrical industry. Past students have been invited to apply for electrical apprenticeships with PEER.

Courses offered in 2020

Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start)

This qualification has been designed to give students the opportunity to explore the electrical industry as a whole. The course will provide an entry point for students wishing to gain an apprenticeship and comprises of classroom based study and practical workshop learning.. It covers competencies for work entry program providing grounding in safety and basic skills and knowledge for work in any electrical or engineering discipline.

Course Pathway

This course will provide an entry point for students wishing to become an Engineer, Apprentice Domestic or Commercial Electrician, Data Technician, or Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic.

Course Outcomes

On completion of all first and second year Units of Competency, the student will receive a UEE22011 Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) qualification. If not all Units of Competency are deemed competent or are incomplete at the end of training, a Statement of Attainment will be issued.


First year is a prerequisite to second year. It is recommended that all students have a good understanding of both English and Mathematics.

Electrical Construction Taster Course

Applications are now closed for Term 3, 2019.

The Electrical Construction Taster Course is a non-accredited 8 week course offered to Year 10 students held in the Emmaus Trade Training Centre.

This course gives students who enjoy working with their hands, the chance to have a look and "taste" at construction and electrical industry. It is highly interactive and hands on and is intended to provide students with an introduction into construction, in particular electrical.
